CSCI 5800: Advanced Data Stores

Fall 2014 - CSCI 5800 - Class #35989

Description:

The database field has been addressing problems of scale for some time, but the exponential growth in data volumes over the last decade has even the traditional database providers stumped. If you couple this with some interesting new hardware opportunities, you get a moment in time in which many new and radical approaches to database management systems have been proposed. In this course, we will review and learn about these modern database systems, dubbed Data Stores. We review a variety of data stores, including NoSQL Data Stores, NewSQL Data Stores, Graph Databases, Array Databases, Crowd Databases, Data Visualization Systems, Data Streaming Systems, Data Analysis and Machine Learning Systems, and Data Integration Systems.
